Gba’Aôndo U Tiv spirituality has no concept of “secret worship”.
Spiritual power must be witnessed
In the Tiv traditional belief system, spiritual work is done in the open, before the people it concerns. What is done in the name of the lineage is seen by the lineage.
Ancestral shrines are open to the community
Ancestral shrines belong to the family and the community. Elders, men, women and children gather and witness together.
This is part of our living relationship with our ancestors: a spirituality rooted in the cycles of nature and cosmic order, practised as a community.
